Still one of the best dictionaries of the language, however you may call it. It includes the common register for Hindi-Hindavi-Urdu-Hindustani as well as many high register Sanskrit and Persian words. Also, it is rich in words pertaining to material culture.
Once you get over the shock of stains on the first few pages, the quality is decent. It is constantly reprinted in India and available there for a fraction of the UK price (the other one, of even more repute, is by Platts, but I couldn't find that one as a djvu yet).
The lady on the image is Zeenat Mahal, the wife of the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah. You can also find her images as a young woman on the internet, but the magnificent words from Marguerite Duras fit here:
