These INDUCTIVE TURKISH Lessons have grown out of six years' experience in Constantinople, in teaching to American college and university graduates the rudiments of the Turkish language. Their arrangement is due to the desire to carry the student steadily forward in a difficult task, emphasizing conversation without neglecting reading and writing. These lessons form the first part of a year's course in Turkish, ordinarily requiring three months' work at the rate of a lesson a day. [From the Foreword of 1927]
