I feel very fortunate to own this set of hardcover books published in 1901. They contain selections from the seven principal poets of Persia, otherwise known as "The Persian Pleiades:" Firdausi, Omar Khayyam, Nizami, Rumi, Essedi, Sa'di, Hafiz, and Jami.

Being an avid lover of poetry, I have many books by many fine poets. This set, however, is amongst the most treasured; and is irreplaceable.

It seems a travesty that these books have not been republished and made available to the public. As is evidenced at Amazon, they cannot be purchased; and thus far, none have been available used.

I was lucky enough to purchase these more than a decade ago at a local bookstore, which had the most wonderful basement full of old, leather-bound books, First Editions, etc. I used to live in that book store.

These books are beautiful - bound in green with gold embossing - and contain some of the most beautiful poetry ever written. If you are unable to locate these books, do yourself a favor and buy others which contain poetry from the poets listed above.

Flowers from Persian Poets should blossom within the garden of all poetry lovers.
